Volunteers welcome
Hospitality House depends on the support of each of the sponsoring churches to serve homeless women in South King County. Your contributions of goods, volunteer services, and funding help provide the women with the necessities and comforts of home.
In-Kind Gifts
Each month Hospitality House issues a “wish list” of all the things we need to operate the house. It looks much like your monthly grocery list: kleenex, toilet tissue, paper towels, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer…
To download this month’s donation list, click here.
The churches scheduled for collection this month are: Prince of Peace Lutheran and Saltwater Unitarian Universalist.
Even if it is not your churches month, if you happen to notice a particular item on our list that you may have to contribute, feel free to call to let us know.
Thank you all for your ongoing dedication to end homelessness and for everything you do to support the women of Hospitality House. The residents are most appreciative and many of them have shared that they feel your generosity, prayers and love for them as soon as they walk into our shelter
Meal Providers
Each evening, seven days a week, volunteers from our participating churches and organizations provide dinner for the residents and overnight staff. Nothing fancy, just nutritious home-cooked meals, from hearty soups and stews to casseroles and meat dishes. For more information contact Linda Stryker at llstryker@hotmail.com.
Overnight Volunteers
Overnight Volunteers on Friday and Saturday nights not only spell our Overnight Manager, but also save us $12,480 in payroll expenses. For more information contact Overnight Volunteer Coordinator, Carla Boutwell at cbcooks@aol.com.

Transitional Starter Kits Needed
Some months ago we told you
about the starter kits we have
created to help a woman move into her own
apartment - things like toilet paper, sauce
pans, hot pads, etc.
However, a reality for some of our
residents is that they are not ready for
independent housing; so, on the initiative of
the meal coordinators from the sponsoring
congregations, we have begun a second,
smaller Starter Kit for those women moving
into transitional housing. This is commonly
a shared housing facility where they may
live in for 1-2 years. There they do not
need cookware and dishes, but they do need
their own twin bed sheets and covers, as
well as bath towels and laundry products.
We are asking each sponsoring church to
have one full starter kit and one transitional
starter kit ready and on hand when their turn
comes up to help a Hospitality House
resident move on.
For more information contact your meal
coordinator, or Linda Stryker at 206-431-
9213; email llstryker@hotmail.com
